Queen opens Academy of FM

17 December 2008

Her Majesty Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands opened the newly refurbished building of the Academy of Facility Management of the NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences this week.

The leading FM educational establishment in the Netherlands, the Academy of Facility Management offered its Bachelor’s programme for the first time in 2002 and as of 2006 the education is in English.

The building of the Academy of Facility Management has been expanded and has has become an inspiring international meeting place for learning and innovation. There is an emphais on hospitality, not only in the wine and dine area, the espresso corner, the restaurant and the café, but also in the meeting rooms, the study landscape and the lecture halls. This is the place where students, lecturers, academics and professionals meet and work together in an academic environment.

Knowledge transfer and innovation, self-responsibility and pro-activeness are key-words. Last year a computer based programme called Virtual Action Learning was introduced and Corporate Social Responsibility forms an important part of the curriculum.

The Academy plans to offer training course for FM professionals and a Master’s programme in International Real Estate & Facility Management.
