When you are the office manager of one of the largest professional support services companies in the UK – as in the case of Sue Moult at consulting and business services group, Mouchel – then a single source for your diverse filing and storage solutions is a very tangible asset.

And to set the scene, Mouchel – formerly Mouchel Parkman – specialises in the management of road networks, public buildings, rail infrastructure, homes, schools and utilities, on behalf of central and local government, public-sector agencies and businesses.

As the company has grown and spread across different locations, Sue has continually turned to the specialist UK manufacturer Railex Systems for her needs whether determined by contents, space or size.

At the office in Deansgate, Manchester for example, the unique Doublestore concept features a central filing core of double density which rotates 180 degrees at a gentle push to either access the documents or when not needed the reverse flush cabinet wall blends smoothly into the surroundings and with a very narrow footprint of just 1.67 square metres. Each unit is the equivalent of five standard four-drawer cabinets. Railex has also supplied the exciting new generation of translucent and durable polypropylene files offering easy and safe handling in a variety of modern colours and identification, whilst also meeting multiple EC Environment criteria of minimal use of natural resources, reduced pollution emission, longer lifespan and optimum recycling. In turn, at a strikingly converted former sorting office on the other side of the city, the Mouchel interior need is best served by one of the famous Railex mobile systems which acts as a central hub. This popular format incorporates cabinets running along tracks laid on to the floor, and the bays simply are opened or closed up at the turn of wheels as desired. This releases over 50% of the space normally needed for this amount of contents whilst accommodating all documents and general storage material within flexible internal layouts.

The overall benefits of the storage expertise to Sue are very tangible “we had previously utilised what seemed to be miles of four drawer cabinets, but of course files and records are crucial to our business being a paper-led [does this mean we like paper? It doesn’t sound very environmental] company and by virtue of a rolling refurbishment we saw the opportunity to invest in the optimum storage solutions. The combination of Railex products meets all of our criteria in terms of flexibility and durable safe construction, as well as designed to blend into the internal environment. We are very pleased with the arrangement and ongoing support, and it is good to know that Railex are always there for any eventuality”.
