Taylor & Goodman win contracts worth £3m

National repair and distribution company Taylor & Goodman has won two new contracts with Severn Trent Water, potentially worth around £3m per annum, and acquires Delton

Taylor & Goodman will be responsible for general mechanical and electrical services for Severn Trent Water, along with eight other suppliers as part of a framework agreement. In addition, the company has won the Fabricated Access Equipment contract for Severn Trent, for a period of two years, working alongside three other companies in the framework agreement.

The new contracts will cover an area spanning several counties - from Gloucestershire to Nottinghamshire - and will be serviced from a new branch in Erdington, Birmingham. The two new contracts follow a motor repair contract awarded to Taylor & Goodman in October 2007. Taylor & Goodman opened up another workshop in January 2008 to service this original contract. The new workshop currently has eight staff members, supported by a team from a number of Taylor & Goodman’s other branches in Bishop’s Stortford, Cleveland, Eastbourne, Fleet, Huddersfield, Oldham and Reading. Since its inception, the Birmingham branch has won a number of new contracts with food companies such as Soreco, Pork Farms and Northern Foods, for which Taylor & Goodman provides electrical and mechanical repairs.

Taylor & Goodman has truly established itself as one of the top UK firms within the repair industry.”

“The contracts for general mechanical and electrical services earlier this year and the recent Fabricated Access Equipment contract will complement the motors contract and will help drive efficiencies in the future.”

Taylor & Goodman has also acquired Delton Electric Ltd, saving over 10 jobs in the Birmingham area. The company, which was part of the Delton Group, specialise in supplying, servicing and repairing electric motors, generators and transformers for industrial end users. The company will now become part of Taylor & Goodman’s UK wide network of branches, offering a total electrical and mechanical service for industrial end users all over the UK.

More than 10 jobs will be saved through the acquisition, adding to Taylor & Goodman’s already existing staff of 125. With its headquarters based in Reading, Taylor & Goodman has another seven branches around the country located in Birmingham, Bishop’s Stortford, Cleveland, Eastbourne, Fleet, Huddersfield and Oldham.The acquisition strengthens Taylor & Goodman’s offering within the Birmingham area.
