HBG Facilities Management re-brands as BAM FM

10 October 2008

The Facilities Management arm of HGB, one of the largest construction services organisations in the UK, was re-named BAM FM last Monday.

HBG UK has re-branded all of its businesses, including construction, property development, facilities management, plant hire and design and the company itself will be called BAM Construct UK.

Last year its combined operations had turnover in excess of one billion pounds and its FM arm (established in 1998 with its first project starting in 2000) went into profit for the first time after several years in development of a critical mass of operational projects. BAM Construction is a highly regarded construction company which is a market leader in offices, education and health especially.

Managing Director of the newly named BAM FM, David MacDonald, said: ‘"t is a significant factor in BAM Construct UK’s operations that we provide integrated services and although we are a new entrant to the FM field we are already growing steadily. We have concentrated on the PFI/PPP market and deliver a comprehensive range of services including cleaning, catering, security, building and grounds maintenance and leisure management. BAM FM operates within the education, healthcare, law & order and commercial property sectors and our portfolio now comprises 17 projects operating over 40 sites which directly employ over 600 people."

BAM FM, which has its head office in Glasgow, provides services for hospitals in East Ayrshire, Wharfedale in Yorkshire, and Doncaster, and for police HQs in Derby and Cheshire, and for numerous offices and schools including its recent successes in Bromsgrove and West Dunbartonshire. In 2008 so far the company has begun providing services for four projects including a long-term contract with three Solihull Schools, with two eco-offices developed by HBG Properties in Salford and Bristol, and recently with the newly HBG-constructed Joseph Chamberlain College in Birmingham. It has doubled in size by both turnover and employment in the past four years alone.

David MacDonald added, "Our record in the PPP sector is very promising indeed. Providing FM services on these long-term contracts is valuable to the BAM Construct UK group because it brings us closer to our clients and helps us understand the buildings we construct from the perspective of the people who use and operate them."
