FM change at NW London NHS Trust

GSL, part of G4S Integrated Services, has won the FM contract to provide an integrated range of support services to the North West London Hospitals NHS Trust.

The contract covers the Trust's sites at Northwick Park & St Mark’s Hospitals in Harrow and the Central Middlesex Hospital in Park Royal. The contract starts in November 2008 and will run for an initial period of five years.

GSL will directly employ around 530 employees to provide a comprehensive range of FM support services, including cleaning, catering, environmental/waste management, reception, security, portering and post room. GSL won the contract following a competitive EU tender process, following on from a number of separate contracts coming to an end and the issue of improved specifications from the Department of Health for cleaning and infection control. GSL will replace two existing facilities management providers and an in-house team who together currently provide the services at the two acute hospitals. Existing staff will be given the opportunity to transfer across to GSL under TUPE legislation, and additional staff may be hired to strengthen key service areas.

G4S Integrated Services, part of G4S plc the world’s largest security solutions group, specialises in providing facilities management at security-conscious workplaces including Government agencies, prisons, hospitals and schools across the UK. It already provides facilities management services at 200 community health care locations, and hospitals in London and the south east, including the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, as well as other Government and commercial facilities.
