Inviron, the leading building services and facilities management provider, has won a contract to upgrade Bournemouth Airport’s main runway to CAT III status.

The project, which is part of the airport £45m redevelopment programme, will ensure the airport is operationally ready for future growth.

Inviron, working alongside main contractor, Costain, will undertake the modification and upgrade of the Air Ground Lighting system, assist with the installation of new navigational aids and a new airside standby generator, along with associated engineering works.

The project, which began in August and will be completed by December 2008, is to be carried out during night closure of the airport, with Inviron and Costain ensuring the runway is fully operational each morning.

Rob Robson, Inviron’s Airports Division General Manager, said: “Inviron has been awarded this high profile contract because of our technical ability and proven reliability working at airports throughout the UK, including Manchester, Heathrow, and Gatwick.

“In addition, our professional and proactive staff will ensure this project is completed to the highest standard.”
