LCC pioneers new BICSc certificate

03 September 2008

LCC Support services Ltd is among the first organisation to accept the challenge to train its management for the new BICSc Healthcare Professional Cleaning Certificate (HPCC).

Following a Pilot programme, 8 LCC Area and Site Managers successfully completed the course at LCC’s training centre and will receive this highly regarded BICSc Certificate. Lynn Webster was the trainer and Colin Hanks, BICSc Training and Education Manager was moderator. Lorraine Larman of LCC, one of the first BICSc Assessors for the course, organised the programme. The employees were of a very high standard and all passed. It is essential that 100% marks be achieved to pass, as the Certificate contains health, safety and infection control training – the most important issues in cleaning today.

The LCC course was funded by the ‘Women and Work Programme’ operated through Asset Skills. It is estimated that the increasing focus on hygiene in the healthcare sector, there will be thousands of cleaning managers taking this important Certificate in 2008.

To achieve the required standard and knowledge, the LCC managers also achieved Level 2 in infection control training from specialists at Doncaster College.

Bob Vincent LCC’s Managing Director said: “As our business continues to develop our staff need to keep up to date with all the changes in legislation especially those relating to healthcare and hygiene. Initially all those working on our healthcare contracts will complete this programme. There will be many more BICSc HPCC courses held in our training centre during 2008.”

Full information on the Healthcare Proficiency Certificate is available from BICSc on 01604 678710.
