EMERSON NETWORK POWER ANNOUNCES WITNESS TEST FACILITIES

04 September 2008

Witness facilities allow customers to view tests on their fully loaded equipment prior to delivery. Emerson Network Power announces comprehensive witness test facilities

Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE:EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, announces comprehensive witness test facilities, at its factories in Slovakia and Italy, which provides customers who have purchased Liebert precision cooling or UPS systems with the opportunity to fully load test their equipment prior to delivery.

The rigorous testing procedures applied by Emerson Network Power ensure the efficiency of both products and systems, with reports being generated that provide full details of the tests carried out and their results. Because the tests are applied to the products actually being purchased, customers can have confidence in their installation and commissioning.

The witness test facilities are located at the Emerson Network Power complex in Tognana, Italy, comprising test laboratories with climate chambers capable of creating environmental conditions ranging from -32oC to +60oC, cooling capacities of up to 200kW and airflows of up to 30,000 m3 per hour. The witness tests cover component functionality, such as circuitry, as well as performance efficiency, for example cooling capacity analysis.

The Emerson Network Power factory at Nove Mesto nad Vahom in Slovakia is home to the UPS witness test stations, with a total capacity of 1600kVA through an onsite 400V/50Hz engine-generator.

Comprehensive procedures provide steady state, dynamic, overload and fault tests, analysing the performance and efficiency of both UPS units and systems, which in the case of large systems can take four to five days.

Pre-installation witness tests, supported by detailed reports, are an important part of the range of customer service best practice procedures and initiatives offered by Emerson Network Power.
