One in five new workplaces fail to meet workers' needs, says Leesman

According to the latest research by the Leesman Index, The Workplace Experience Revolution Part 2, 19% of new workplaces fail to meet the needs of occupants.

Resulting from a study that included more than half a million employees from nearly 4,000 workplaces in 92 countries, the latest research found that just 41% of workplaces deliver exceptional experience.

The study also showed that 40% of new workplaces had failed to maximise their full potential.

Further to this, around 33% of respondents disagreed that their new place of work did not allow them to be productive.

Levels of noise were seen to be the most common issue experienced by workers, with just 33.4% stating that they were satisfied with this aspect of their new workplace.

While the best results for new workplaces were seen in supporting collaborative working practices, one area of concern was the lack of support for those needing to complete individual or "concentrative" tasks.

The study additionally showed that the provision of flexible or designated workspaces would not guarantee the success of "change projects".

Further effort and additional aspects needed to be included in the delivery of new workplaces to ensure that employees were provided with the best environment to complete their activities.
