MAILROOM IS THE HUB OF JUSTICE

14 July 2008

The leaders in the field of mailroom design, Envosort, have completed a state-of-the-art mailroom at the new 14 floor Civil Justice Centre in Manchester. Fully planned and equiped by Envosort, the mailroom has become the hub at the centre of this award winning green building.

The striking new Manchester Civil Justice Centre is the biggest court complex to be built in the UK since the Royal Courts of Justice. It comprises 47 court rooms and hearing rooms and is truly the hub of the civil legal service in the area. And the hub of the building is its state-of-the-art mailroom carefully planned and equipped by Envosort – the specialists in their field.

Consisting of 14 floors, rising through 10 glass-clad storeys and featuring its own bore hole water supply and emphasis on natural light and ventilation, the Centre was recently voted the Green Major Project of the Year. The striking design accommodates a continually busy working environment whilst creating an internal sense of calm and space.

Part of the thorough mailroom evaluation process included a visit to the Bank of New York offices in Manchester which were also fitted out by Envosort and again featured a thoughtful pre-planned concept. As Lesley Armstrong of the Justice Centre observes “ we were impressed by the attention to detail of Envosort and the quality of their products. They understood exactly what we wanted and supplied the solution. Everything was all very well thought out, especially as regards our focus toward rapid and accurate opening of incoming mail which in turn required careful ergonomics and the right working environment. The finished effect reflects a modern and efficient facility. It is important for us to be seen to be good at what we do and achieve”

The Envosort range in question is their Series 90 benchwork design which combines strength and durability with a light clean look and value for money . Safety is noted with features such as curved edges and splinter-proof tops. The comprehensive portfolio allowed the Justice Centre to install cupboards with sliding lockable doors and open benches of various configurations – complemented by varied, and adaptable Flexibuild sort units designed for sitting and standing operations. Also the newly introduced special waterfall twin basket sort configurations for larger volume applications – as well as practical double sack holders and even through to clever fold down chairs which can be tucked away neatly beneath the benches.
