Launch of 'new presence in FM' confirmed

12 June 2019

The launch of Wates FM has been announced today as a new business with expanded nationwide capabilities.

It has been created from the former Wates Smarspace FM operation and will further extend the company's nationwide portfolio of TFM services.

Wates FM will continue to operate across a range of existing environments, from banking and retail to healthcare, while seeking further opportunities within both the private and public sectors.

The new business will be part of the Wates Property Services division, operating alongside the Living Space arm that provides planned and responsive repairs to more than 500,000 social housing properties.

In addition to allowing the two divisions to combine their expertise, the move is also designed to allow them to improve their customer service offerings.

Wates Living Space managing director David Morgan said that continuing success "is built on the breadth of our in-house capabilities and our agility in identifying and maximising complementary areas of our business.

"There is a great deal of synergy between Wates Living Space and Wates FM and aligning the two businesses will enable us to significantly enhance our service to clients."

He further stated that his company's operational efficiency will provide valuable support in the Wates FM drive to increase its operations within the public sector.

Wates FM managing director James Gregg described the launch of his company as a "positive step that will support the adaptation of our FM services to the needs of an evolving market.

"Our success to date has been founded on our determination to understand and respond to our customers' individual needs, something that has made us a trusted FM partner."

Mr Gregg further stated that the shared expertise, commitment and financial stability between his company and Wates Living Space will cement its position "as a leading provider of FM services to both public and private sector customers".

Currently managing more than 350 commercial properties, the new Wates FM will continue to provide the wide range of services previously delivered by the former Smartpace business through a mix of site-based and mobile teams.
