Service provider purchased by property investor

15 March 2019

FM service provider McGill & Co has been purchased after going into administration at the beginning of last month.

No financial details were revealed within the report.

Catalus Energy Investment was confirmed as the company's new owner.

McGill & Co previously employed 345 people in Scotland, with its headquarters in Dundee and offices in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

Catalus Energy Investment owner Graeme Carling stated he had known the company, formed in 1981, for many years and was happy to save it.

Mr Carling served as an apprentice joiner after leaving school and said he was "fed up of seeing companies disappear", including his former employer Charles Gray.

"I felt that if there was something I could do, then I should do it," he said.

"We feel we are the right fit for McGill and will bring the kind of financial prudence that wasn't there," said Mr Carling.

The company is a specialist provider of services including mechanical and electrical, fibre and wireless.

The acquisition includes the business, order book, the majority of its equipment, intellectual property, company name and trademarks, along with an agreement to purchase its Dundee headquarters.

Mr Carling said the company will now try to "re-engage with the previous stakeholders and customers and see where the land lies" before further announcements could be made regarding job numbers within McGill & Co.
