FM Industry gathers to do business at The Facilities Show next month

21 April 2008

Reflecting the most up-to-date issues in the FM profession today, The Facilities Show 2008 from 13-15 May at the NEC, Birmingham, will be the most environmental yet. The show will address the topics of sustainability, recycling, carbon footprint and the greener office in a series of brand new features.

Now in its 9th year, The Facilities Show is the must-attend event for all facilities professionals. In association with the BIFM, this year’s show will deliver more to the FM industry than ever before.

Highlights include:
Extensive exhibition – over 100 exhibitors and 30% growth makes this year’s event our largest and most comprehensive ever.

The Sustainable FM Academy – sponsored by FMX & BSJ. Through high profile speakers addressing issues such as carbon saving, energy performance of buildings, recycling and waste management, attendees are able to further educate themselves on the key topics within CSR, creating a green workplace and keep themselves up-to-date on the most recent developments in legislation. Green FM Trail – highlighting exhibitors who can offer you products, advice and services to aid you in creating a sustainable working environment.

Recycling Centre- we will be partnering with Mil-tek GB Ltd to bring a recycling centre to the show. Located on stand G4 Mil-tek will be recycling cardboard, plastic and other dry waste throughout the event
Co-Locations - The Facilities Show is co-located with Safety & Health Expo 13-15 May and IFSEC, 12-15 May at the Birmingham NEC.

The new Sustainable FM Academy will present three days of environmentally themed sessions providing visitors with the opportunity to debate the two vital topics in every major building - energy and waste management. Each day will include presentations from expert keynote speakers, including panel debates featuring the country’s most respected FM professionals. The Carbon Trust, Connaught, Royal Sun Alliance, Land Securities, Trillium, Amaryllis, Sims Group and Charterhouse Energy are just some of the major companies taking part.

For the first time The Facilities Show will feature a recycling centre, courtesy of Mil-tek GB Ltd. Located on stand G4, Mil-tek will be recycling cardboard, plastic and other dry waste throughout the event. This is the perfect opportunity for visitors not only to think green for their organisation, but to be green themselves.
Bryan Wingfield, Sales Director of Mil-tek, comments, “Both corporate social responsibility and new legislation are making environmental good business practice a necessity for modern organisations. Exhibitions can be very wasteful environments, so the organisers of The Facilities Show should be commended for their commitment to green issues. We look forward to recycling as much waste as possible during the show and talking to visitors about their recycling needs.”

The Green FM Trail is another new feature and will highlight companies that can offer advice, products and services to respond to the ever-evolving challenge of reducing a company’s environmental impact. Look out for the tree logo on the following stands:
