Members of UK BIM Alliance product data group finalised

09 April 2018

Tasked with meeting product data use and management issues, the UK BIM Alliance has confirmed the membership of its Working Group on Product Data.

UK BIM Alliance chair Su Butcher will be joined by 11 other members in the group.

"Product data isn't actually about the technology, brands and markets, it is about processes and continuity," said Ms Butcher.

She further explained that group members will seek out the views of clients, FMs, consultants, data companies, contractors and manufacturers "to identify their needs and activities, so we can put together a picture of the current state of the nation on this topic and start bringing people forward together".

Ms Butcher also said a UK BIM Alliance meeting with key stakeholders in January had shown a "clear sense of unity of purpose", with calls for "clear direction".

"We now have the structure to bring those thoughts together into a useful report which people across industry can discuss and act upon.

"We will also be identifying conflicts and gaps in the current thinking on this topic, with a view to steering the future work of the Alliance on product data," said Ms Butcher.

UK BIM Alliance has created the Slack Workspace online for interested parties to join and discuss topics of interest, which can be accessed here.

The 12 members of the Product Data group are:
Su Butcher, UK BIM Alliance chair
Hanna Clarke, PDA
Rod Crowder, Willmott Dixon
Matt Crunden, Legrand
Rob Jackson/Emma Hooper, Bond Bryan Digital
Patricia Massey, Electrium
Mike Overy, Northumbrian Water
Lloyd Patman, Airey Miller
