FM does battle with the Beast from the East

With the arctic weather conditions continuing to cause disruption around the UK, the FM sector has raised its game in many areas to reduce these issues to a minimum.

Discussions with the PFM Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) have focused on how FM is frequently ignored during normal conditions, with appreciation increasingly rapidly when clients and facility users receive rapid response and valuable assistance when issues occur.

Jones FM has reported that over the course of this week its "onsite technicians have worked tirelessly to try and help in any way they can to ensure business operations are not affected" at the company's various sites.

The adverse conditions caused a "multitude of issues" at its One America Square site in London, particularly within the reception area.

Snow clogged the revolving doors and also affected the sensors, further impacted by surface water from the high level of footfall, as workers made their way to work and brought melting snow into the building.

In addition to their efforts to clear the snow and water, on-site staff quickly arranged for slip-proof mats to alleviate the issues.

Pre-emptive maintenance and monitoring of reception heaters for the reception area at the company's site in 125 Old Broad Street also ensured that the effects of the freezing conditions outside were minimised.

Further to the above, Jones FM engineers devoted extra hours to ensure that plant and equipment on both sites continued to operate.

Arriving early on site, they monitored and resolved any issues before clients arrived.
