Siemens FM head joins Interserve

Wayne Tantrum, formerly General Manager of Siemens Facilities Management, is to join Interserve Facilities Management as Sustainability Director on the 17th March.

In January 2007, the strategic decision was made to outsource the Siemens Facilities Management operations for the whole of the UK to a single strategic provider. Siemens FM General Manager, Wayne Tantrum, was appointed Project Director for this strategic outsourcing contract and delivered savings on all the core services as well as supporting the transition of approx 1,400 employees from their HQ in Bracknell to a new Carbon-friendly HQ at Frimley. The FM contract was awarded to Carillion.

He joined Siemens in October 1993 where he held many different and varied positions but predominately focused on Sales and Customers. He joined Shared Services in October 2002 and took on responsibility as General Manager for the Siemens Facility Management business.

He also is Vice Chairman for Euro FM (the European Facility Management Network) and formerly headed its ts Corporate Associates.

During his period as General Manager at Siemens FM he achieved success both internally and externally for Siemens and used FM as the catalyst to drive success. His 'Captain Environment 'and 'Saving the world in 3 minutes' programme designed to promote World Environment Day within Siemens achieved recognition by winning the Siemens global international achievement award for the Siemens' UK team.

He is passionate about sustainability and the protection of our environment and has been quoted as saying:-
“Today we need to utilise the worlds limited resources far more efficiently in order to save the world. Organisations can do more to encourage their employees to be more environmentally friendly at the office/home and communicate the idea that simple, easy, small changes to daily routines really make a difference in order to advance society the environment and protect our future. “

The Sustainability Director role in Interserve is a new one within the organisation.
