Quick, safe and energy efficient

Speed, efficiency and health and safety are some of the main considerations facilities managers face when it comes to installing drinking water facilities in commercial environments, writes.

Every workplace needs access to boiling and chilled drinking water.

After all, many a workforce relies on that first cup of tea to get them up and running in the morning, while drinking water throughout the day is important to stave off the effects of dehydration, which can include lack of concentration and headaches – both guaranteed productivity killers.

Traditionally, many offices, factories and other places of work have relied on kettles or urns to provide their hot water provision, while cold water has been supplied by bottled water coolers, or the tap.

While these time-tested approaches undoubtedly have their benefits, they are no longer the most efficient or effective method especially now alternatives have emerged on the market.

In recent years there has been a notable rise in the number of organisations replacing their hot water provision with electric boiling water units.

These products are permanently connected to the cold water mains and can provide a continuous supply of hot water suitable for a whole range of purposes.

In smaller workplace kitchens, these units are perfect for quickly making hot drinks such as tea and coffee, and preparing instant snacks and soup.

They are also much safer than a kettle as they are mounted to the wall, so they will not fall over and there won’t be any cables trailing along the work surface.

There’s also much less chance of the user being scalded by spilled water or steam when using one of these units. Of course in busier workplaces, the time savings can be key.

Kettles can take anywhere up to five minutes to boil a litre of water , and are frequently overfilled.

Boiling water units simply deliver the amount of water that is required, and then replenish it as appropriate.

Our easy-to-install, five litre capacity Aquatap is based on our market-leading Supreme boiling water product, and includes similar built-in safety features and the same Intelliboil™Plus technology.

This effectively and efficiently manages the boiling cycle by regularly bringing the contents of the water container to the boil in response to ongoing user demand.

Aquatap is now fitted with a filter as standard and includes free product commissioning as well as the option for a market-leading five-year warranty.

Increasingly, workplaces are also demanding cold drinking water. While many choose bottled water coolers, they can prove to be expensive and the large, heavy bottles can be difficult to manoeuvre and store.

By law, employers are required to provide drinking water, preferably from the public water supply. As tap water can prove to be poor tasting and warm, a good solution can be to chill and filter mains water through economical plumbed-in units.

These use the existing drainage system and can be floor or wall mounted, or fitted into a cupboard.

We offer the SuperChill chilled water unit, and Aquatap is designed to deliver refreshing chilled or ambient water in addition to boiling water; there are boiling only, boiling/chilled and boiling/ambient versions available.

With an increasing number of businesses and organisations getting on board with instant boiling and chilled water products, and with solutions offering speed, efficiency and safety, there has never been a better time to consider including them within a facility.
