LPM expands northern business base with acquisition

Southern based facilities management, cleaning and security company LPM has expanded its northern business base with the acquisition of 50 year old contract cleaning and janitorial supplies business, Dependable Services in Leeds.

LPM which operates primarily across the south of England has been growing its northern business and bought Dependable with its 450 staff to further expand its base and client offer. All LPM contracts in the north will soon be handled from Dependable’s Leeds based Cross Green Industrial Park premises. The Dependable business will add over £5m to LPM’s turnover and its janitorial supplies business will benefit the LPM Group.

Stephen Taylor, Dependable’s retiring managing director and owner will be succeeded by 42 year old Nigel Wilson who joins from Manchester environmental services business, GMW. Nigel has nearly 20 years experience working across many different aspects of facilities management and environmental services.

He said: “I have joined Dependable at an exciting time. We are financially strong with sufficient backing to develop the business with both organic growth and further acquisition. We will widen our geographic area and add further support service businesses to the LPM Group. We have no plans to change our name and all our staff jobs will continue under TUPE.”

David Howroyd, Chief Executive of LPM said: “Dependable provides us with an ideal operation into which we can introduce our existing northern client base. It adds janitorial supplies capability to LPM provides us with a strong operating base on which to develop the business in the north.”

Dependable is known in the north for its high quality cleaning services which are reflected in its wins of a Kimberly-Clark Professional Golden Service Award for its work in a Leeds Grammar School. It has two CHSA Distributor Service Excellence Awards and the Company is accredited to BS EN ISO 9001:2000 standard. Staff are trained on BICSc and other specialist courses.
