ISS becomes first caterer to use Red Tractor in hospitals

14 November 2007

The Red Tractor logo will feature on the menu of 32 hospital restaurants across the UK to show that ISS has chosen to serve quality assured British chicken, pork, beef, lamb and milk to their clients. The meat will be supplied by Prime Meats and the milk by Dairy Crest.

ISS Mediclean has become the first public sector caterer licensed to use the Red Tractor food assurance logo on its menus. Andy Jones, Director of Catering at ISS Mediclean adds “We are excited to be working with Assured Food Standards, Prime Meats and Dairy Crest to supply our hospital restaurants with Red Tractor meat and milk. We find it important to supply our restaurants with quality, fresh, assured meat and milk from UK farms.”

The move is a positive step towards enabling hospital trusts to meet the criteria set out in the Public Sector Food Procurement Initiative (PSFPI) guidelines for raising production standards by sourcing Red Tractor food. Commenting on the new partnership David Clarke, Chief Executive of Assured Food Standards said “This is an important step in developing Red Tractor in the food service sector. It has provided ISS with a way of telling customers about the standards and provenance to the food they supply and we look forward to working with them.”
