FM market to grow 4% this year

The latest UK Facilities Management Market Development Report from MBD predicts contuing growth for support services sector.

The UK facilities management market encompassing in-house, outsourced and total FM services grew in the five years 2003 to 2006 by 13% to £110.6bn and should, by the end of 2007, achieve £115.2bn. The report predicts that the market will increase each year to 2012 between 2-3%, to reach £131bn (at 2007 prices).

Total FM will increase between 2007 and 2012 by 3%-4%; as a proportion of the market it has remained at about 8%.
The market for contract out services is expected to increase by 17% over the same period, growing from 59% to 61% of the market by 2012.

The in-house FM sector will also increase during this period by between 1%-2% in real terms to reach £40.8bn (at 2007 prices) by 2012, a growth rate of 7% compared to the latter year of the review period.
