MITIE move on Edinburgh Castle
02 June 2011
MITIE has added Edinburgh Castle to the portfolio of iconic buildings it services in Scotland.
The FTSE 250 outsourcer is delivering a range of facilities management services at the historic castle, Scotland’s most visited tourist attraction, which draws more than one million visitors each year.
MITIE’s contract, worth £250,000 per year and lasting for three years, will include cleaning, providing consumables and support for functions and special events.
MITIE has several other prestigious contracts connected with the Scottish establishment, including the Scottish Parliament, which it has cleaned continuously since its opening in 2004. From 1 June 2011, MITIE will also provide cleaning services to Stirling Castle.
Laraine McBean, Director of MITIE in Scotland said: “MITIE is pleased to work on such a wonderful group of projects. Historic buildings are challenging environments in which to work and it is an honour to be a part of maintaining Scotland’s heritage.”
The contracts for both castles were won through the Cleaning and Associated Services Framework agreement for the Scottish Government which MITIE was awarded in 2009.
