MITIE awarded national framework agreement by Buying Solutions

27 January 2011

MITIE has been awarded a framework agreement for NHS Building and Engineering Maintenance Services – making them the only outsourcer that is licensed to bid for contracts across 15 service areas.

MITIE was awarded the framework by Buying Solutions, which is the national procurement partner for all UK public services. Only a small number of suppliers have been awarded frameworks and MITIE’s new status means it can supply more hard technical facilities management services to the NHS than ever before.
The ‘Lots’ that MITIE can now provide engineering and maintenance services for include cooling and refrigeration, air handling units, fire systems, boilers and associated plants, building management systems, security systems, portable appliance testing, fixed wire testing and automatic doors.
Technical services provision within the NHS has traditionally been fragmented, with each Health Trust making its own arrangements. However, this agreement means that MITIE can provide greater bundled contracts and deliver more services for less money to the NHS – increasing public sector value and service delivery. The framework agreement follows on from the August 2010 news that MITIE has been appointed as an approved supplier by the Office of Government Commerce (OGC).
Martin Holt, managing director of MITIE technical facilities management said: "We are delighted to have been awarded a framework agreement by Buying Solutions for the NHS.
"We can now provide service delivery across a broader range of areas than ever before. This means that the NHS can benefit from greater value for money, which is of particular importance given the budgetary pressures it is currently under."
