MITIE grows in London and Kent

29 July 2010

As part of a new framework agreement with Kent County Council MITIE will provide mechanical services for public and educational buildings across the Mid Kent region, while in London, Homes for Islington has awarded the company a gas servicing contract.

The Kent County Council (KCC) framework includes planned service and maintenance for heating and hot water services to include gas, an oil-fired plant and a large biomass unit. As well as this, MITIE will be responsible for all reactive repairs working with KCC’s call centre. The four-year agreement commences in June 2010 and has an estimated value of £1.5m per annum. In addition to this, MITIE will also be a support contractor on the framework for both the East and West Kent regions.
Lee Ginger, MITIE Building Services Director, commented “It is a great privilege to be awarded this contract and we look forward to a long and collaborative working relationship with Kent County Council”.
The new gas servicing contract with Homes for Islington will expand on MITIE’s existing work for the organisation. The new contract covers gas servicing, repairs, boiler replacement and upgrades for the South Islington area of approximately 9500 homes. Due to start in October 2010, the contract is worth up to £2m per annum over a four-year period.
Commenting on this contract, Brian Hickey, MITIE Social Housing Director, said; “We are delighted to have secured this contract, especially as the residents played such a big part in our selection. HFI residents wanted an increase in evening and weekend gas appointments and requested a text reminder service for booked appointments. Our unique, automated system gives us the flexibility to meet all of these requirements and we look forward to starting work”.
