Dalkia launches sustainable energy services for UK
25 November 2009
Dalkia has launched a range of energy efficient solutions for sustainable energy for users in the UK to reduce carbon emissions and energy costs.
The recent sale of Dalkia’s UK FM business to MITIE Group has enabled Dalkia to focus on its larger scale energy offer providing investment in projects that will greatly reduce carbon emissions and lower reliance on fossil fuels. Services included in the product range cover the widespread application of combined heat and power (CHP), biomass and biogas technologies, demand-side energy management and efficient on-site generation of other utilities, such as process water and compressed air. By meeting the latest environmental targets and legislation these services will allow customers to gain the benefits of reduced cost and lower emissions which can lead to carbon neutrality.
By developing a closed loop recycling system for all grades of waste wood and integrating this into Dalkia’s Biomass energy and CHP provision, Dalkia has an entirely new business model for recycling and power generation. The Dalkia Bio Energy service is set up to deliver the benefits of biomass fuel use for heat and power to energy users in the housing, commercial, industry and public sectors. Dalkia will also establish a major presence in the waste wood recycling industry, enabling companies to dispose of their wood by-products in an environmentally responsible fashion, while ensuring that this carbon-neutral fuel source is used to its full capacity.
Another key element of Dalkia’s energy offer is the eco2 synergy scheme, where a CHP unit can be hired with no initial investment required; Dalkia undertakes a full feasibility study to identify the optimal size of CHP engine and then install all the equipment. Under the agreement the customer pays only for generated electricity at a flat rate per month or an agreed pence per kW rate with heat supplied free. The scheme also benefits from 24/7 support from a dedicated customer service centre, nationwide mobile engineers and a full maintenance package. The eco2 synergy scheme will suit a wide range of applications where there is a need for heat and electricity including healthcare, industry, hotels, leisure centres, universities and business parks. Frédéric Pelège, CEO of Dalkia plc, commented: “The launch of this new Dalkia energy focused service is a major step forward for delivery of long term sustainable energy supplies for UK industry, healthcare and district heating sectors. By applying the experience of best practice gained across 42 countries supported by technology and in-house support we can now deliver a complete energy solution for our customers.”
