Navy accommodation PFI wins top PFM Award
04 November 2008
A partnership formed through a PFI project to transform accommodation and services for Navy personnel at HMS Drake in Plymouth has won the Partners in PFI/PPP Award and the Overall Award at the PFM Awards 2008 held at The Brewery, London on Tuesday 4th November.
The winners, Interserve with the Ministry of Defence, are partners in a PFI to build, operate and maintain the Single Living Accommodation facilities at the Fleet Accommodation Centre in Devonport. Interserve provides total facilities management to these facilities at HMS Drake in a 24- year contract worth some £10m a year. It includes providing 3,200 meals a day, cleaning 1,560 cabins and providing hotel services to 1,658 people as well as estate management services across the whole site.
The judges said ”This is an outstanding partnership delivering a wide range of extremely high quality services and it has developed excellent working relationship at strategic and operational levels. This winner is a role model from whom others can learn.”
This is the second year running that Interserve has claimed the top prize at the PFM Awards. Last year, Landmarc Facilities, the joint venture company formed by Interserve Defence and CSC Applied Technology Division to deliver £600m contract to manage, maintain and develop military training facilities across Defence Training Estate, won the overall PFM Award in 2007.
