Dalkia Takes the Biscuit

25 September 2008

Dalkia, the Technical Facilities and Energy Management Company, has expanded its food sector operations with the signing of a new five-year wide-ranging contract with the UK’s leading biscuit manufacturer, Fox’s.

The Facilities Management provision will deliver all hard FM services to Fox’s major biscuit manufacturing site in Batley, West Yorkshire. This will include M&E, HVAC, steam and compressed air, cooling, freezing, water treatment, hot water and high voltage maintenance. L8 legislation compliance for Legionella control in waterborne systems will also be managed by Dalkia, along with portable appliance electrical testing, doors, waste oil disposal, weigh bridges and chimney inspections.

The contract will be provided by an on-site team supported by specialist contractors and mobile technicians. Meanwhile, administration and full help-desk support will be provided by Dalkia’s dedicated customer service centre in Portsmouth.

Part of the Northern Foods group, Fox’s prides itself on being the authority in biscuits and produces over 20 sweet and savoury brands. The company was founded in 1853, in a small confectionary shop in the centre of Batley. In 1927 production had grown to the extent that the business had to be transferred to the present site, on the outskirts of the town. The manufacturing site now handles new product development and many of the more complex product research and development processes, creating the need for the extensive plant and FM services Dalkia is contracted to provide.
