MITIE secures contract to improve social housing
13 August 2008
MITIE has secured a £17.5m, 4-year Decent Homes contract with Bracknell Forest Homes, the newly-formed not-for-profit housing association that owns and manages 5,600 properties.
The contract, which starts in September, will involve fitting new kitchens and bathrooms in half of the organisation’s homes and carrying out some rewiring work. MITIE will be self-delivering all aspects of the contract, including plumbing and electrical works.
Caroline Titley, Chief Executive of Bracknell Forest Homes, commented: “Our customers will benefit tremendously from the refurbishment work that MITIE will be carrying out in Bracknell. Homes will be brighter, safer and more appealing, with facilities that are modern and updated. MITIE’s work will also be helping us to meet and maintain the Decent Homes standard – an important milestone for all social housing providers – as well as our own Bracknell Forest Standard, which exceeds the Government’s requirement.”
Adrian Dawson, Director of MITIE’s Property Services division, said: “We work with social housing providers across the country, and we understand that having a new kitchen or bathroom can make a huge difference for their customers. Improving people’s lives is a strong focus of our work, and by bringing homes up to a decent standard, we’re helping to create places that people can be proud of.”
