There are six finalists in three entries in this year's Facilities Technology Innovation Award. These include Mitie with Sky UK - Miworld; ISS Facility Services - ISS Waste Manager; and Trimble with LMG

Mitie with Sky UK - Miworld

Mite operates an integrated FM relationship for all Sky's buildings across the UK, offering a service that aligns to the culture of 'believe in better', giving Sky colleagues a world-class working environment that promotes this ethos, with customer service truly at the centre of everything that happens. Mitie's Miworld management information has been key to driving this approach as it has delivered a single real-time view of service to the individuals who operate the service day-to-day, improving ownership and engagement at a local level and ensuring Sky colleagues are truly treated as the customer and are assured service is being proactively driven every minute of the day.

ISS Facility Services - ISS Waste Manager

With marketplaces and individual requirements evolving, ISS’s customers demand more value and complexity from its waste offering. ISS therefore needed to develop its service delivery to ensure it could be instrumental in helping it achieve its environmental, sustainability and core business aims. Waste is a key aspect of the ISS service delivery model, which needed to align the vision of being ‘The World’s Greatest Service Organisation’ with the challenges of waste; and empower its contract teams to manage and deliver service excellence consistently to its customers, facilitating environmental best practice without building silos. It has developed a waste IT system with the ability to manage, measure and report on all its waste activities.

Trimble with LMG
Trimble with LMG

Trimble with LMG

This entry focuses on the software integration by Trimble UK and LMG and provides a summary on its advanced space scheduling app, integrated with its desk and room-booking application to optimise the workspace allocation process, provide real-time space utilisation analytics and deliver interactive location based services. The system enhances alternative workplace strategies and activity based working, reducing total cost of occupancy and improving staff productivity. At the heart of the solution, is a powerful resource management engine that maximises the utilisation of resources by automatically determining the optimal workspace allocation for individual members of staff during the provisioning process. Trimble achieves this by allocating the available workspace and resources that are a best fit for the user’s business unit, role and the tasks in hand. This gives staff the ability to incorporate preferences. By providing staff with an element of control, organisations have been able to increase employee satisfaction and enhance productivity. The system monitors the utilisation of each ‘bookable area’ and, at the point at which a new user requires a desk or meeting room, calculates the workspace that will meet the user’s role, provide specified adjacencies, make recommendations based on retained learning on user likes and dislikes derived from previous satisfaction ratings; and enable interactive services. Once the location has been selected from the list of available options, the system guides the user to the appropriate location and automatically provides confirmation of arrival.
