TME technology in temperature

03 March 2014

TM Electronics (TME) is a UK business that really understands the close relationship between temperature control and cost control in large scale catering operations

MD Tom Sensier said: “We all know that correct temperatures are at the heart of catering. From logistics and preparation through to delivery, accurate temperature monitoring avoids risk to safety and quality, with all the loss of reputation and revenue that implies.”

But with more than 20 years’ experience, TME also understands the importance of best-value, bespoke solutions. “No two businesses are exactly the same and none of our customers want to waste money on unreliable or unnecessary equipment or procedures. That’s why we’ve developed a range of flexible products (over 300 different food probes) and services designed to drive down costs and to be compatible with a wide range of applications.”

Recent examples include a Bluetooth/USB logging thermometer that uses a barcode ID system to give immediate alerts to critical temperatures - perfect for HACCP safety compliance. Another new device allows the user to monitor temperatures from up to 20 metres away without using expensive wireless systems - already a success with water safety customers monitoring legionella risk, the device helps businesses monitor food temperatures whilst safeguarding the efficiency of cold storage appliances and ovens.

Tom Sensier doesn’t believe his customers should have to compromise on quality if they are looking to control costs. TME’s SOLO budget thermometer punches way above its weight with 0.5 °C accuracy and enviable three-second response.  The company’s Thermometer for Life guarantee puts a £35 cap on MM2000 thermometer repair/renewal charges regardless of any damage inflicted by the customer. Scaled across an entire operation the potential savings are obvious.

“Compared to the old-fashioned ‘throw-away’ approach to thermometer use, we are now seeing a sea-change in attitude, with modern FM companies appreciating what TME has to offer - a much better ROI.”
