Servest’s task cards clean up at Weetabix

Facilities management provider Servest Group has improved the cleaning procedure at Weetabix production plants using a task card system

Servest has achieved over 500 days without a lost time or reportable accident across the production plants, thanks in part to its new task card system, and cleaning procedures are now standardised across the plants. In recognition of Servest’s achievements, Garry Mobbs, Health and Safety Manager (UK) at Weetabix, presented the team with a decorative cake.
Servest was appointed by Weetabix in 2012 to deliver cleaning across eight production plants and associated offices at Burton Latimer, and across two production sites and linked offices in Corby. As part of the contract, Servest delivers office cleaning, janitorial services, in-plant hygiene, end of production hygiene cleans, and ad-hoc cleans of large industrial food manufacturing equipment.

The task cards provide a method, with a built-in risk assessment, for each cleaning activity. They give clear directions to the cleaning operator, with information around equipment, PPE, chemicals, methodology, hazards and critical areas. The cards also act as an auditable reference for the client around service level agreements.
The cards also comply with British Retail Consortium (BRC) requirements for hygiene processes to be clearly identified, actioned and audited, and for the same methodology to be used consistently week after week. 
David Matwij, Divisional Director at Servest, said: “ The senior Weetabix team has been extremely complimentary of the standard of work delivered by Servest thanks in part to the new task cards system. They have noted that the cards are specific, detailed, easy to follow, and contain clear photographic standards.”
