Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel hand dryer wins hygiene certification

16 October 2013

The Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel hand dryer has been accredited with NSF/ANSI 169 certification by NSF International (NSF) and the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) in recognition of its hygienic operation. This demonstrates its suitability for use in healthcare, catering and other situations where sanitation is a primary concern.

Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel is a high-speed hand dryer, which blows water off the hands as opposed to evaporating it. The water is directed into a drain, rather than being allowed to drip onto the floor.

NSF is a highly trusted and accepted certification and is often required by health institutions, catering establishments, food preparation plants, vet surgeries and other installations where bacterial transfer and microbial management are key concerns. Equipment with the NSF mark receives improved acceptance worldwide and guaranteed regulatory acceptance in North America.

NSF tests and certifies equipment for acceptance across the US, Europe and other global markets. It combines sanitation with electrical safety and energy efficiency testing, so is a preferred accreditation for many potential purchasers and users.

NSF/ANSI 169 is a wide-ranging certification, which covers equipment that has ‘special, complex, or multiple functions’, and for which individual standards do not exist. Instead, it uses other relevant standards for components and materials as a basis to devise a test unique to each piece of equipment.

Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel was the original high-speed hand dryer and has been steadily developed since its introduction. As well as its hygiene credentials, it is very low noise and energy-efficient, having Green Spec Approval and awards from the Noise Abatement Society. It is also on the UK Government’s Energy Technology List, so qualifies for Enhanced Capital Allowances.

Since its introduction to the European market, it has become a favourite with facilities’ managers, interior designers and users in installations as diverse as hotels, conference centres, laboratories, care homes, schools and universities. Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel is also liked for high usage installations, such as airports and sports’ venues, where its speed of operation – drying hands in 9 seconds compared to 30 for evaporative dryers – reduces queuing.
