Industry celebrates World FM Day

Today sees the annual celebration of World FM Day, which has become an established initiative to raise the profile of the industry and the value it delivers around the world, with the theme of Enabling Positive Experiences this year.

Initiated by Global FM, today will see a number of special events designed to recognise the vital work of FMs and the entire industry's contribution to businesses and organisations.

It will also provide further recognition of the wide range of areas of responsibilities included in the FM remit, including both hard and soft services that incorporate an increasing number of areas of concentration.

This year's World FM Day also coincides with the deadline for entries for the PFM Partnership Awards, see www.pfmawards.co.uk for further details and deadlines for Account Director of the Year and Young Leader of the Year entries.

Global FM chair Duncan Waddell said this year's theme "shines the spotlight on FM's important role across the globe.

"FMs deliver exceptional customer experiences worldwide across multiple sectors and World FM Day is an important time for us to reflect on that.

"You will find that FM directly impacts many industries and there are examples in travel and tourism, residential, entertainment, sport & leisure, health and education, as well as the wider workplace."

Organisations such as IFMA have arranged for free content resources to be distributed throughout this week, with more details available at www.ifma.org

BIFM has also announced a number of ways it is celebrating the day, including the enlistment of ambassadors to help raise awareness of World FM Day.

It has also created a supporters' pack, available for download at www.bifm.org.uk, including case studies, fundraising ideas, logos and banners, along with ideas for social media engagement.
