Carel records 13.5% sales increase

13 June 2017

Control solutions specialist for air-conditioning, refrigeration and air humidification Carel has announced a 13.5% increase in sales for 2016 compared to the year previous.

Its final total was euro 231m, compared to euro 203.5m in 2015, attributed to positive trends in all areas of the business.

Exports accounted for 80% of the sales total, with European activities increasing by 19% on average and 8% within the Asian markets.

Staff numbers have also increased across the group, with 132 more employees joining to bring the total to 1,222.

The company's manufacturing site in Croatia, which opened last year, has seen employment numbers increase from 18 to 76 people.

More investment in research and development (R&D) was also recorded last year, rising by 4.6% to reach a total of 6.4% of sales.

An additional two sales offices were opened in Thailand and Korea respectively last year, aimed at strengthening the Carel Asian presence.

Group managing director Francesco Nalini said: "The focus of our attention continues to be improved efficiency and sustainability in the air-conditioning and refrigeration sectors.

"Our growth in 2016 is the result of the most innovative solutions in these areas, and shows how our R&D efforts are focused in the right direction."
