First FM company to gain ISO 44001 announced
03 March 2017
Joining five other companies around the world to gain ISO 44001 certification, EMCOR UK has become the first FM business to achieve the standard.
Following the announcement of the standard's ratification by the Institute of Collaborative Working (ICW) at the start of 2017, the new standard has replaced BS 11000 to identify, develop and manage collaborative business relationships.
EMCOR UK has worked closely with the ICW and the British Standards Institution, joining the technical committee that wrote and developed the new framework specification.
The company's involvement has also led to group executive director Christopher Kehoe joining the panel of experts for PFM's The Future of FM seminar at The Cleaning Show on 16 March at 11.00 at London's ExCeL.
Mr Kehoe is also a non-executive director of the ICW, having been involved with the organisation since 2006.
The new standard has been designed to account for the numerous changes to the corporate environment and its approach to collaborative working.
EMCOR UK chief executive officer Keith Chanter said achieving ISO 44001 is an "important strategic objective" for his company.
"Collaboration and the principles and practices embodies in the new standard underpins EMCOR UK's approach to identifying customers' strategic and operation requirements, thereby providing the means by which we can tailor services to these needs," he said.
In addition to demonstrate the value provided, it supports the growing trend for "long-term, collaborative contracts", said Mr Chanter.
