SPIE announces purchase of Trios

09 November 2016

Birmingham-based supplier of compliance, facility and property services Trios has been acquired by SPIE for an undisclosed sum.

Trios Group was established in 1919 and its purchase is designed to further enhance the SPIE UK Technical Facility Management division.

It generated revenues of £65m in the 12 months to 1 April 2016 and employs around 690 people.

There are currently five Trios offices in Birmingham, Enfield, Cirencester, Basingstoke and Warrington.

It provides services to the commercial, local government, health, education, distribution, leisure and retail markets.

SPIE reported that it intends to use the purchase to expand its presence in the compliance and reactive and planned maintenance across the retail and leisure markets.

The move was described as the "next step forward" for the Technical Facility Management division by SPIE UK chief executive officer James Thoden van Velzen.

"We are eager to develop our reach and with the mobile capabilities Trios Group provides, we are setting ourselves on a path of significant growth in the sector," he said.

The acquisition was handled by Livingstone.
