Professionalism main requirement in security outsourcing

31 August 2016

With the outsourcing of security remaining high on the agenda of many businesses and facilities, a new survey has revealed the two main requirements sought from suppliers.

Competence of security staff and getting suppliers to deliver on the terms of their contract are the two main challenges faced when businesses outsource their security.

A total of 80% of companies surveyed chose to outsource security requirements and 50% opted for a specialist security provider, mainly due to concerns that diversification would result in unsatisfactory levels of service.

A further 30% of respondents said their preference would be for a provider with security expertise within a bundled FM contract including a number of services.

Bundled contracts found favour through providing a single point of contact for multiple services, the survey revealed.

Onsite staff professionalism was the most important factor for all security requirements.

While this has been shown to be highly important for all aspects of FM delivery, it was shown to be much more essential where security is involved.

Conducted by Grosvenor Services, the survey targeted security and FM managers primarily in commercial offices and construction companies with more than 100 employees in the London area.
