First FM accreditation for waste management training initiative

05 August 2016

Following recognition of its waste management training programme by the Chartered Institute of Waste Management (CIWM), Sodexo has reported this as the first instance of its kind for the FM sector.

CWIM has accredited the company's Waste Management Gold Module Award for the next three years.

Consisting of the three stages of bronze, silver and gold, it is accessible to all Sodexo employees.

It includes booklet completion, role play, e-learning, residential courses and practical workshops, allowing the learner to access information through a variety of media to develop a wide range of skills.

Those completing the full Gold Award will be entitled to apply for CIWM membership at Technician Member status.

Sodexo director of the soft services platform Philip Smith recorded his company's delight at being the first FM provider to achieve accreditation in this area.

"We recognised that our business needed a robust waste management development programme for our employees to become competent and skilled in their roles, which is a key component and expectation for our clients," he said.

"This accreditation demonstrates the true value of our training programme and has been recognised by a professional industry body."
