Arcus partners with Aktrion to deliver cleaning services in Scotland

05 August 2016

Arcus Cleaning Services Limited is a new company under the Arcus umbrella that will see the group branch into the soft services market to deliver cleaning throughout Scotland in partnership with Aktrion - a great example of two national companies working collaboratively to achieve mutually beneficial results.

Arcus have recently secured a landmark ten year contract with the supermarket giant Sainsbury’s, to provide M&E, refrigeration, lighting, drainage, building fabric and other self-delivered services to Sainsbury’s supermarkets, convenience stores, petrol filling stations, depots and store support centres.

Sainsbury’s have again shown their commitment to the future growth of Arcus by awarding the cleaning contract in Scotland to the provider.

It follows an incredibly successful 7 years’ service from Arcus which has seen its FM provision go from strength to strength and puts them at the top of the retail market for facilities management.

The contract award will see approximately 250 cleaners transfer to the Aktrion-Arcus partnership, and they will work together to transform the traditional perception of cleaning services, linking it with activities that the Technicians and Engineers carry out.

Derek Quinn, Operations Director at Aktrion says “we’re delighted to be working in collaboration with Arcus to deliver cleaning services to Sainsbury's throughout Scotland.

"This new innovative approach, using the very latest technology and processes within the cleaning market, will deliver real benefits to Sainsbury's, their customers and colleagues.”

Mark Boston, Operations Director at Arcus Cleaning Services Ltd, says “it’s an exciting time for Arcus and Aktrion, our ways of working are very much aligned and we’re looking forward to making changes and improvements to the way cleaning is delivered within Sainsbury’s: building on the great FM services we already deliver”.

Arcus aspires to move away from the TUPE culture so prevalent in the Facilities Management and Soft Services sector, developing long term solutions. Chris Green, CEO at Arcus, says “We are very privileged in our relationship with Sainsbury’s – they have allowed us to develop better and better solutions over the years, constantly improving both service and cost.

"This is why we are confident that we can change the approach in cleaning too where we can help the colleagues develop broader skills and receive improved rewards.”
