£5m Spanish train contract awarded

26 May 2016

RENFE Viajeros, the national train operation in Spain, has awarded a one-year account extension for the provision of customer support services to Interserve.

Worth approximately £5m, the deal will see Interserve provide customer information and ticket sales support services at 63 locations, including 55 RENFE Rodalies stations across Catalonia.

There is further potential for the one-year extension to be further extended for another 12 months after March next year.

The contract will see Interserve drive efficiencies while maintaining high customer service standards, achieved through training programmes for all team members.

Having developed an automated management system to coordinate services at the Catalonian commuter stations, the company is able to adapt resources to meet changing passenger needs, it states.

It also reports that its provision of customer information services and ticket sales support in Madrid combined with strong relationship with local labour organisations were key factors in the renewal of the RENFE deal.
