New thermometer gets seal of approval from legionella specialists

04 May 2016

A new legionella thermometer with built-in timer has been approved by safety consultants and water managers working with hospitals, schools and care homes to reduce the risk of Legionnaires’ disease.

TME’s MM2008 is manufactured with a 1 and 2 minute countdown facility – a USP designed to speed up and simplify the timed temperature tests necessary for monitoring hot and cold water outlets.

Jackie Winn, director of J W Safety Solutions Ltd, works closely with local authorities on legionella risk prevention measures. “Having a built-in timer is a fantastic idea for water testing – much better than trying to hold a thermometer, a timer, a clipboard and a pen all at the same time!”

UK manufacturer, TME offers specialist legionella kits like the CLEGK2 which combines the MM2008 with a KS01-S Dual Surface/Immersion Probe – an efficient way to test running water, pipe surfaces and calorifiers without having to swap between different probes.

Chas Thompson, operations manager at Freeston Water helps businesses manage their own risk prevention measures. “It’s a great piece of kit – especially for businesses who do their own testing because the timer buttons makes it easier to learn and the dual purpose probe gets the job done faster.”

The MM2008 and CLEGK2 are the most recent additions to TME’s expert range of water temperature monitoring equipment for legionella management.

Other innovative solutions include the TCWALLPORT system, featuring wall-mounted thermocouple monitoring points for spot checks on overhead tanks or boxed-in sentinel points; and for completely paperless recording, TME’s MM7000 range of Barcode Scanning Thermometers with Bluetooth communication or USB.
