Intersafe and Megger: A decade-long ‘tested’ relationship

06 January 2016

For more than a decade, Intersafe, a UK provider of electrical testing services, has built its business around test equipment from Megger

Over this time, Intersafe has benefitted not only from the advanced design of the Megger instruments, which makes them fast and easy to use, but also the robust construction and reliability of Megger product and the excellent, readily accessible technical support the company provides.

Established in 1995 and based in Hampshire, Intersafe specialises in providing efficient and cost-effective electrical testing services for a wide variety of business sectors locally and across the UK. Customers include, amongst many others, Park Lane Hotel, Queen’s Tennis Club, Marriott Hotels, Barclays Bank, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Sony. The company’s expertise covers all aspects of the essential electrical testing market with a particular focus on Electrical Installation Condition Reporting and Testing.

Intersafe has used Megger test equipment from the very beginning, and the Megger multifunction testers have long been at the core of many Intersafe services.

The majority of the instruments currently used by Intersafe are from Megger’s latest MFT1700 range. This range includes three models, all of which share the same lightweight yet robust IP54 construction, large backlit display panels and timesaving features like two-wire non-trip loop testing and auto-start continuity testing.

All models have a CAT IV 300 V safety rating in line with the 17th Edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations and BS EN 61010, which is particularly important for Intersafe, as it makes them safe to use on all areas of low voltage electrical installations. This makes it unnecessary for the company to carry out time-consuming risk assessments to decide which instruments can be used in particular locations.

“This year we are celebrating our 20th anniversary and we are proud to say that we can attribute our success, at least in part, to the proven quality of the test equipment we use,” explained Stephanie Nieuwenhuys, Sales and Marketing Executive at Intersafe. “A key advantage of the MFTs is that they are multifunction testers, so our engineers don’t have to swap between instruments. This increases our efficiency and productivity when working on site.”

“Other key benefits with Megger instruments are reliability and accuracy. This is why we use Megger as our preferred supplier for EICR testing equipment. A particular benefit is that our engineers find the MFT1730 makes RCD testing quicker, which is particularly important as the 17th Edition Wiring Regulations now require extensive RCD protection.”

“Intersafe has used Megger products for many years and even engineers who have joined Intersafe from other testing companies have been really pleased to learn this, as they recognize that Megger instruments are safe, dependable and easy to use,” added Adrian Pendle, Director of Intersafe.

An MFT1730 tester was recently used by Intersafe to carry out EICR tests at the University of Brighton and Bournemouth University where the speed of operation and convenience of this instrument allowed Intersafe’s engineers to complete testing within the required tight timescales. This meant that there was no disruption of the lectures and other activities onsite.

“Megger’s multifunction testers are reliable and accurate instruments which have enabled Intersafe to safeguard organisations throughout the UK. They help us to guarantee that our clients’ electrical installations have been correctly tested in line with the IET Wiring Regulations. This gives us, and our customers, peace of mind. It would definitely be true to say that Intersafe and Megger have a great relationship that, over the last decade or more, has been tried and tested!”
