Helistrat secures flagship McArthurGlen contract

22 October 2015

Helistrat, an environmental consultancy and contract management partner, has completed the mobilisation of a new waste management and recycling solution at McArthurGlen’s flagship designer outlet as part of a new 3-year £250,000 contract

Cheshire Oaks is the UK’s largest designer outlet, with a quarter-million square feet of retail space, comprising more than 145 boutiques, restaurants and cafés.  The new system will see the implementation of a new mixed dry recycling service in addition to the segregation of cardboard, paper, food, glass and plastics.

The new recycling services will provide retail outlets from some of fashion’s best known brands including Nike and Adidas, Next, Polo, Michael Kors and Hugo Boss with a zero waste to landfill solution and move them towards a 70% recycling target with the remainder being used to generate sustainable energy.

Commenting on the new contract, Helistrat Director, Harvey Laud said:  “The new recycling solution at Cheshire Oaks demonstrates that a compliant and sustainable solution can also be highly cost effective.  We are proud to be able to deliver a solution which mirrors the quality of the retail experience and the environmental performance of the centre.”

In addition to the provision of new collection and recycling equipment Helistrat has also undertaken briefings with employees from all the outlets and the centre’s Facilities Management Team. Training was also provided to the waste and recycling operatives on the new processes, the benefits of the scheme and in the use of new recycling equipment.

Bespoke posters and signage were  also produced and displayed across the site providing a visual guide as to the right container for individual waste types. In addition to Cheshire Oaks Helistrat also manages McArthurGlen’s designer retail outlets in Swindon, Ashford and Bridgend.
